Strong Island
Yance Ford’s feature documentary film Strong Island is a rare and compelling exploration of the aftermath of gun violence. Project& will partner in creating and hosting innovative convenings that bring together artists, thought leaders, crime victim advocates, legal experts, law enforcement professionals, and judicial reform advocates with families directly affected by violence. The creative and innovative convenings work to initiate discussions about how the film can be a tool in nationwide training and anti-violence work.
With beautiful cinematography and heart-wrenching interviews, Strong Island examines the far-reaching tragedy of violence, loss, and mourning and is a unique window on the way grief can erode an entire family. The film is the recipient of a 2014 MacArthur grant.
