In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth)

September 15th, 2015 project and

Organization: EXPO CHICAGO.
This September 17-20, 2015 heralds the inauguration of the annual Project&/EXPO CHICAGO Collaboration Focused on Social Aesthetics.

Project& presents internationally-celebrated artists Hank Willis Thomas, Ryan Alexiev and Jim Ricks of the Cause Collective’s In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth) on Navy Pier at EXPO CHICAGO.

In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth) is a mobile interactive video recording booth open to the public that asks participants to look into a camera and finish the statement “The truth is…” The project debuted at Ireland’s Galway Arts Festival in 2011. It has since traveled to locations including South Africa, Afghanistan, Cleveland, Miami, Brooklyn and now to Chicago with Project& and EXPO CHICAGO.

To further animate The Truth Booth in Chicago, Project& is inviting local organizations that engage the breadth of the city’s population and represent the deep civic commitment and ideals of Chicago to finish the phrase “The truth is…” From The Truth Booth recordings, Project& and the Cause Collective will create a cinematographic piece representing Chicago’s diverse opinions, perspectives, confessions and passions.

In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth)

July 24th, 2015 admin

Organization: EXPO CHICAGO.
Project& and internationally-celebrated artist Hank Willis Thomas ignite a global dialogue through the collaborative work In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth) asking, “How is truth defined?” A giant cartoon speech bubble, which acts like a photo booth that participants can enter, is the central element in this public installation.

The “Booth” travels across the country and the world, recording two minute long private confessions and musings. The resulting footage is curated into revealing videos meant to inspire dialogue between people, locations, and truths.

Project& and Willis Thomas will be bringing the “Booth” to EXPO Chicago at Navy Pier, September 18-20th. For visitor information, please visit EXPO Chicago’s site. For more information on The Truth Booth and its artists, click here.
