Organization: The Poetry Foundation.
Project&, in collaboration with innovative visual artist Cheryl Pope, is staging the second installment of their long-term series of publicly-engaged installation performances around issues of violence and Chicago’s youth on August 10, 2015 at The Poetry Foundation from 6:00-8:00pm.

In Just Yell / Poetry as Self Defense: The physical embodiment of language, Pope and Chicago teens will stage a performance combining self-defense training and poetry, confronting issues of race, gender and abuses of power. The event is free and open to the public; the Poetry Foundation is located at 61 West Superior Street.

In collaboration with Project&, Pope will develop an ongoing city-wide series that aims to more effectively and democratically discuss the issues of violence that plague our nation through invitations that engage audience participation during the performances.
