This December 2nd, Cal Performances presented Project& Fellow Claire Chase at the Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive. Chase premiereed and excerpt from PAN, a collaborative piece commissioned by Project&. Through her Density: 2036 project, Chase premieres new commissions of work for solo-flute every year.
PAN (taking the sense meaning “all”) aims to break new ground in the 21st-century repertory with a work that is as socially meaningful in a given community as it is artistically adventurous in its format-defying approach to the “concert” (acting together, jointly) experience. PAN’s structure is part of Project&’s core vision of creating models of equitable cultural participation with community and creative collaboration.
